NEWSLETTER—ISSUE 13 – 26th JANUARY 2018
Good AŌernoon, Everyone
I must say that I will not be sorry to see the back of January. With so much staff illness, children being
sent home in their droves with flu-like symptoms and weather that has caused much disrupƟon, it has
not been the best start to the year. However, despite all of this, it has been heartwarming and very
pleasing to walk around the school and see happy, smiling faces and children engaged in their learning.
Maths monitoring of teaching and learning through lesson observaƟons, work scruƟny and talking to
children is showing that children are really enjoying their lessons and making good progress. It’s a joy
to see. Thank you to my hardworking and caring staff - you are the best - and thank you to parents for
supporƟng the school and ensuring your children are here in school, on Ɵme and doing their home-
Next week, Year 3 will be visiƟng Eccleshall Woods on Thursday as part of their Stone Age topic, and
everyone will be enjoying their chocolate-themed lessons in maths on Friday in support of NSPCC and
our PTA’s Chocolate Bingo Night two weeks today. Please remember to send your child to school next
Friday in non-uniform and with £1 for the NSPCC and some chocolate for the bingo evening (please see
further details in this newsleƩer). Your generosity is very much appreciated, thank you.
Tuesday 13th February and Thursday 15th February 2018
Please note that, due to staff sickness, parents evenings are scheduled a liƩle later than
usual. Please make a note of the dates. We hope to see every child’s parents to share
progress and areas for improvement in your child’s work and learning. Reply leƩers have
gone out this evening. Thank you.
Support for parents
We will always try to give you as much informaƟon as we can to enable you to support your
child’s learning and progress in school. Let us know if there are sessions we could be running
to help you, e.g. on Internet Safety, teaching methods in wriƟng/maths etc.
A big thank you to Mrs Horne for running Phonics sessions for parents this term and to Mrs
Bowker & Mrs McErlean for running a KS1 SATs parents session and to Mrs Kenyon and Mrs
Keeling for supporƟng me at the KS2 SATs parents meeƟng. Thank you, staff, for giving up
your own Ɵme for this.
